There is a vineland at “Psaràdes”, today, right on the line of communication between the palace at Galatás and Knossos. “Near Galatás, and obviously in contact with this line of circulation, about 3kms from the village Alágni, at a location not at all coincidentally called Màrmara [marbles] during an autopsy by the 23rd Ephorate of Antiquities there were located traces of a large building of outstanding architecture of the Neopalatial period” (Rethymniotakis, Christakis, 2011, “The Palace and the town at Galatás, Pediada. Axes and communication practices”. Minutes of 1st Cretology Conference, A2). Could it be a Minoan country villa? It seems that viniculture at the Alágni plateau has been continuous for 35 centuries.
